Heineken Experience

When you are in Amsterdam, you have to at least visit the Heineken Experience.

The Heineken experience is a tour of the original Heineken Brewery and also gives you a history of the Heineken Family and how the beer is made.  It's very close to my hotel and it was a quick 5 min ride on my bike.

Here is the entrance to the World of Heineken.  They even have specially made Heineken green bikes.

This is the original letter Heineken wrote to the bank to buy an old brewery.  He wanted to buy the whole thing or nothing at all.

This is one of the first original bottle designs that was used.

Some old labels from the earlier periods to the current label.

Here is how Heineken is brewed.  It uses barley, hops and a special brewed A Yeast that provides the special flavor of Heineken.

The tour guide explaining the wort process.  Wort is barley and wheat heated then filtered.  It actually tasted like crap.

The Heineken Family used horses back in the days to deliver the beers.  They still keep some horses around but they are used for entertainment these days.

An LED screen created with Heineken bottles.

During the tour; they show you how to drink and sample the beer.  The beer tasted especially fresh as it is brewed onsite at the Heineken Experience.

After the tour; there is a special Heineken boat that will take you to the Heineken Brand store and it cruises up the river with a tour.

It was a very cool tour and with the price of admission; you get to drink two large Heinekens so the tour is basically free.
